DICE Screeners
What is a reading screener and how can it help my child?

A reading screener is a tool or assessment used to quickly and efficiently identify students who may be at risk for reading difficulties or who may need further evaluation.
Unlike comprehensive assessments, which delve deeply into various aspects of reading proficiency, a reading screener is typically brief and focuses on key indicators of reading ability, such as decoding skills, fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary knowledge.
Based on the results of the screening, educators can then determine which students may require additional support, intervention or an evaluation.
Additionally, reading screeners can help parents determine if a comprehensive evaluation is needed for their child.
At DICE, we offer a Dyslexia Screener and an Irlen Syndrome Screener.
